Thanks for reading, and sharing about your experience, and your friend’s. I’ll definitely read that, and thanks for including a link to it.
Medium is this incredibly vast ocean of storytellers, much, much bigger than the storyteller site I came from (Cowbird) that since went out of the storytelling business. I’ve been posting here regularly for two years now, mostly (until recently) in one publication, the Story Hall, which was started by a bunch of Cowbird-refugees like me. I couldn’t figure out how to find other interesting storytellers here at first, so just kept writing and posting, hoping they’d find me. About six months ago, I began reaching out beyond the Story Hall more, at least to find other writers, and just recently started posting stories in other pubs.
This particular publication has provided a forum where I’m finding it much more comfortable to post stories about how I came to find, and gain just a little bit of understanding about LBGTQ issues, and to talk about my own relationship to it. In addition to my brother, my only son is also gay — and, in my book, one of the most courageous people I know. I couldn’t be more proud of who he is, and how he conducts his life.
