I’ve seen him live in 5 different decades, probably a total of 13 shows or so (70’s, 80’s, 90’s, 00’s, 10’s), and plan to go see him next year, to make it 6. I never left one of his shows disappointed — I learned to go with no expectations, and have always appreciated his originality, the depth of his lyrics, and his respect for the music. He’s had such a global impact on music and writing. I love that he never sold out, and always remained true to his own inner drummer (although I am not sure what the Sinatra covers were all about!) I thoroughly enjoyed your piece on the artist I most admire.
