Have you ever heard of Dr. Jill Bolte Taylor? You probably have, but if not, check her out. A Harvard trained neuro-anatomist who had a massive stroke at age 37 that pretty much wiped out the entire left hemisphere of her brain for 8 years, which she somehow managed to rebuild and recover from, so she could spend the rest of her life talking about the experience, and helping us to understand more how the brain works, and how miraculously it can be regenerated. She and her work have been one of my current obsessions - has opened wide new doors of understanding how this organ between my two ears actually works. It's pretty amazing.
