From one Navy veteran to another, I greatly appreciated this article. I’m with you, too, in terms of those requiring a ton of proof that I served — if you don’t trust me on that, keep it.
I do have a photo I.D. from the V.A. that I carry in my wallet, mainly so it’s easier to get into the V.A. medical center where I got treated for a brain tumor and related hearing issues. But, that usually does the job, if someone asks.
I, too, am glad I served, and learned the true meaning of “service”, in the process.
